Involuntary?

I am about to disappoint anybody who came to this blog looking for someone to expound upon the moral bullet points of veganism. I have no problem with people who eat animal products. I really don't! My husband, J, loves his steak. And honestly, so do I.

I just can't anymore. Ever since I was about six months pregnant with my daughter, L, I could not stomach meat. I'm not sure why, but I try to eat meat and I became even more nauseated than I was before. Why? No clue. One of my friends is convinced that it has to due with my blood type but that sounds funny to me. Who knows. Anyways...

So why not just be a vegetarian you ask?

L is lactose intolerant. Big deal right? WRONG! This is a very big deal. I am breastfeeding and really want to avoid switching to formula as "breast is best!" So all dairy is out of my menu. She is crazy sensitive to it. Like if I have even one piece of bread that was made with milk this little one develops a huge ugly rash. Gross. (BTW, nothing against people who formula feed. Every mother should do what is best for her family and that may very well be formula. Just for us, breastfeeding is best.)

So here I am. Forced into being vegan. And honestly it is not as bad as I thought it would be. I do catch myself day dreaming about a nice bowl of ice cream or a giant juicy steak. Come along with me on this journey :)
